LECIEN LACE MUSEUM｜ルシアンレースミュージアム

「LECIEN」という社名は創業当時に密接な関係にあったフランスのレースメーカーLucien Gilbertにちなんで名付けられました。祖業はレースの輸入から始まり、創業以来、当社レースデザイナーのデザイン創作の為に世界中から収集したコレクションは10万点を超え、LECIEN LACE MUSEUMを創りました。
レースの起源は紀元前の狩猟時代にまでさかのぼりますが、14世紀末から16世紀初めにかけて白地白糸刺繍がさまざまに発展し、16世紀初頭には麻生地に刺繍されたレースに、より透けたものが求められるようになります。LECIEN LACE MUSEUMでは16世紀末から19世紀のヨーロッパのアンティークレースやシルクジャガードなど、長年かけて収集されたサンプルや、フランスの服装史研究家により受け継いだ10万点以上のコレクションを収蔵しています。（一部非公開）

The name “LECIEN” was inspired by the French lace manufacturer Lucien Gilbert, with whom the company had a close relationship at the time of its founding. LECIEN’s origins trace back to lace importation, and since then, our in-house lace designers have collected over 100,000 pieces from around the world for creative inspiration—forming the foundation of the LECIEN LACE MUSEUM.

Although the origins of lace can be traced back to the hunting era in prehistoric times, whitework embroidery on white fabric flourished in various forms between the late 14th and early 16th centuries. By the early 16th century, lace embroidered on linen began to evolve toward more transparent designs. At the LECIEN LACE MUSEUM, we preserve a rare collection of antique European laces and silk jacquards dating from the late 16th to the 19th century, along with over 100,000 pieces passed down from a renowned French costume historian. Founded in Kyoto in 1933, LECIEN Corporation blends the heritage of European lace culture—rooted in Italy, Belgium, and France—with the refined aesthetic sensibilities of traditional Kyoto. Since 1950, we have offered the embroidery brand COSMO® to the world, followed by the global release of our innerwear brand LECIEN® in 1955.
